WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: Bad Photos
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: Being purposeful of taking bad photos helps us review picture-taking mistakes and know how to perfect them
HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED: You will follow along with instruction and use what we have learned to create amazingly BAD photos!
For this assignment, you will need to take "Bad" Photos. The goal is to capture the essential elements of the image and draw the viewer's attention to those specific details.
For example, use compensation wheel to over + expose, use a very high ISO outdoors.
Your Initials OVER EXPOSED.psd
For example, use compensation wheel to UNDER - expose (hint, you can go into MANUAL setting and use the FSTOP ring on the lens to over and under expose the image. Or you can go in the S setting and move the shutter speed to make the image too dark.
Your Initials UNDER EXPOSED.psd
That bracket...make sure it is NOT on your subject so you subject is OUT OF FOCUS. Perhaps the wrong thing is in focus?
Your Initials OUT OF FOCUS.psd
Indoors, use a very low ISO like 80 and the shutter speed will be too slow to capture movement. Have some one move their head back and forth when you are taking their picture. (this is like causing a motion blur!)...This is more than likely a subject that does NOT move!
Your Initials UNINTENTIONAL BLUR.psd
Example: Make a portrait of somebody and make sure the TREE BRANCH is coming out from behind their head...or the flagpole, or something else that takes away from your subject.
Your Initials BAD COMPOSITION.psd
Example: USE THE FUNCTION KEY TO FIND COLOR BALANCE IN LOWER LEFT CORNER OF THE MENU.
You see AWB. That's auto white balance. If you are indoors set it to the SUN...see people go orange. If you are outside, set it to the LIGHTBULB...see things turn blue.. THE WORSE THE COLOR the better!!!!

How to: WHITE BALANCE
TOGGLE TO CUSTOM!
Once there...
Click the MENU button to shoot to set the WB (White Balance)
In photography, color temperature is a crucial aspect that affects the colors in our images.
We can also mess with the color temperture of light!
If it is set to AWB the camera will choose!
Click the Q in the center of the quick keys
ON the select AWB
Toggle to K (+a number)
Click SET COLOR TEMP
A general guideline for exploring color temperatures in photography is as follows:
Sunrise/Sunset: 3,000K (warm, golden light)
Tungsten: 3200K (warm, yellowish light, like indoor bulbs)
Daylight: 5500K (balanced, natural light)
Shade: 7000K (cool light with a slight blue cast)
Cloudy: 6500K (cool light with a subtle blue hue)
Each image MUST be intentional with a subject!
