WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: SCHOOL PORTRAITS
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: School photographs help to build a sense of community and belonging among students, parents, and teachers. They create a shared history that can be celebrated and remembered by everyone involved in the educational journey.
HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED: You will follow along with instruction and use what we have learned to take awesome school portraits!
School portraits are typically taken in a studio environment.
For our purposes, we have a make-shift set up ready to go!
There is a specific process we need to follow to stay organized!
Remember, there is a reason we put OUR current photos in separate folders!!!
Each student/staff member will get a card with their name, special code and QR code!
We, as photographers, will first take a clear photo of the QR code/sheet.
Then take the subject's photo!
After, we will hand the card back to the student/staff member as it has their special code so they can see the photos (later!)
After each session we will turn in our SD cards for uploading/sorting!
This is a much longer process done by the teacher.
There are three key elements to taking a good QR code photo:
The card should be flat.
The photo should be evenly lit.
The code should be in focus.
If you keep to these guidelines, your codes will be recognized!
Failed Recognition
The most common mistakes that lead to non-recognition of QR codes:
Uneven exposure/shadows within the QR code
Bent/folded paper within the QR code
Light reflected in the black sections of the QR code
Wrong focus/motion blur
QR code is backlit
For this assignment, we will need to first learn then practice!
As Hoover Photography Students we need to remember we are entering another teacher's classroom.
