WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: Adobe Photoshop
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: Adobe Photoshop, computer application software used to edit and manipulate digital images. Photoshop was developed in 1987 by the American brothers Thomas and John Knoll, who sold the distribution license to Adobe Systems Incorporated in 1988.
Bring out the best in your photos with these fundamental photo-editing techniques.
HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED: You will practice different tools and techniques and gradually show your success!
This will save the file to your Photography or Downloads folder!
Shortcut: Shift + Ctrl + S
(or File: SAVE AS)
Save to YOUR COMPUTER!
Click the Save on Your Computer button
On the left click THIS PC
Select Desktop
Select Photography Folder
Name the document:
"First Name Last Name SIMPLE"
Click SAVE
Use a selection to edit part of an image.
Rectangular and square selections
Select the Rectangular Marquee tool in the Tools panel. Click and drag to make a rectangular selection.
If you want a square selection, press the Shift key as you’re dragging.
YOUR TASK:
Click and pull a rectangle on the small right picture frame...selecting just the photo in the frame
Layers:
Choose Solid Color
Color Picker:
Click on a BLUE color
Click OK
Layers Panel
You will see that this created a new colors fill layer in the layers panel
Tint
Now with the color fill layer selected, go to the Blend mode pull down menu...
Click and select COLOR
Oval and circular selections
Select the Elliptical Marquee tool in the Tools panel. Click and drag to start a selection. With your finger still down on the mouse/trackpad, press the Space bar on the keyboard too; then push the selection back to the edge of the object you want to select. With your finger still down on the mouse/trackpad, release your finger from the Space bar only, and continue to drag out an oval selection.
Oval and circular selections
After you make a selection, you can re-position it by clicking inside the marching ants with a selection tool and dragging. You also can re-shape the selection by choosing Select > Transform Selection and dragging any of the edges or corners of the boundary.
YOUR TASK:
Click on any edge of the Round wood object and start to drag creating an oval selection.
Keeping you finger pressed on the mouse button, press the SPACE BAR on your keyboard to move the selection to the correct edge. Release the space bar and continue to draw your circle to match the wooden object.
You may need to do this a few times to get it right!
Tip: to Deselect press Ctrl + D and start again!
Layers:
Choose Vibrance
In the Vibrance Panel:
Free-form selections
YOUR TASK:
Click and drag on the inside edge of the sculpture (on the table on top of the books)
Layers:
Choose Brightness/Contrast
In the Brightness/Contrast Panel:
Straight-edged selections
To release the Polygonal Lasso tool, press the Escape (ESC) key.
YOUR TASK:
Click and drag on the inside edge of the sculpture (on the table on top of the books)
Using this tool
Let go and pull to the next corner of the star and so on. Continue around the entire star
Click the small circle to connect and close the selection
Layers:
Choose Solid Color
Color Picker:
Click on a BLUE color somewhere in the image
Click OK
Tint
Now with the color fill layer selected, go to the Blend mode pull down menu...
Click and select COLOR
Do not close PHOTOSHOP until your work is verified!!!
Go to our Classroom in TEAMS
Select Assignments
Select
Adobe Photoshop: SIMPLE SELECTIONS!
Scroll down to MY WORK
Click +ATTACH
Click UPLOAD FROM THIS DEVICE
Select DESKTOP (on the left) then the PHOTOGRAPHY Folder
Find the PSD file and select it (it should be called First Name Last Name SIMPLE.psd)
Click OPEN
Wait for file to upload
File will show up below under My Work
CLICK TURN IN!
NOTE: There MUST be a PHOTOSHOP file attached to get credit. Simply clicking TURN IN will not do!!!
