WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: Adobe Photoshop
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: Adobe Photoshop, computer application software used to edit and manipulate digital images. Photoshop was developed in 1987 by the American brothers Thomas and John Knoll, who sold the distribution license to Adobe Systems Incorporated in 1988.
Bring out the best in your photos with these fundamental photo-editing techniques.
HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED: You will practice different tools and techniques and gradually show your success!
Get to Know Adjustment Layers in Adobe Photoshop-AW-1080p.mp4
Get to Know Adjustment Layers in Adobe Photoshop-AW-1080p.mp4Adjustment Layers are a great way to edit, because they don't permanently change anything. Use them to adjust all or part of a photo or layered image!
This will save the file to your Photography or Downloads folder!
Shortcut: Shift + Ctrl + S
(or File: SAVE AS)
Save to CREATIVE CLOUD!
Click the Save to CREATIVE CLOUD button
Name the document:
"First Initial Last Initial ADJUST"
(Example: TE ADJUST)
Click SAVE TO CLOUD DOCUMENTS
Let's Begin!
The Truck layer should be selected in the Layers panel. If it's not, click to select it.
The Truck layer contains everything except the clouds, which are located on the separate Clouds layer above.
Click the Create new adjustment layer icon (at the bottom of the Layers Panel)
Choose Brightness/Contrast
This creates a new adjustment layer above the layer that was selected (the Truck layer).
The controls for the selected adjustment layer are in the Properties Panel (on the right).
Drag the Brightness Slider to about 50 to increase the brightness.
Before...
After...
Notice that everything on the Truck layer is now brighter, but the clouds are not.
This is because an adjustment layer affects only the layers below it, not above it.
Tip: You can turn an Adjustment Layer ON or OFF in the Layers Panel!
Adjustment Layer ABOVE the Clouds Layer
Now drag the Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer above the Clouds layer to brighten the clouds too!
Notice that now everything on the Clouds layer and the Truck layer is brighter, because both those layers are below the adjustment layer in the Layers panel.
Here's a bonus. You can edit or even delete an adjustment layer like this one at any time, because it is separate from your image layers and doesn't directly change any image pixels!
Select the TRUCK Layer
Select the Quick Selection Tool
