WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: The 2.5D parallax effect in Photography...Learn how to animate selected areas of a still photograph using Photoshop.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: Understand how digital artists use photo editing and animation techniques to transform photographs into engaging visual content for advertising, social media, and digital storytelling.
Students: "I will be able to use Adobe Photoshop's layers, selection tools, transformations, and Timeline to create an animated photograph that demonstrates movement while maintaining the original image's composition."
HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED: You will practice different techniques and gradually show your success!
This technique is similar to a Plotagraph, where an otherwise stationary photograph appears to come alive. The linked tutorial is referenced as a demonstration of this approach using Photoshop transformations and keyframes.
The secret to this effect is separating your subject from the background, filling in the hole left behind, and animating the layers at different speeds.
This will save the file to your Photography (or downloads) folder!
