WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: Bad Photos
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: Being purposeful of taking bad photos helps us review picture-taking mistakes and know how to perfect them!
HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED: You will follow along with instruction and use what we have learned to create amazingly BAD photos!
Over the past 160+ days we have learned about composition, view point, Exposure triangle: Aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed, exposure meters, Depth of Field, Stop Motion, and so much more!
What do we know?
We know to start at an ISO of what?
< Slower shutter speed = MORE light Faster Shutter speed = LESS light>
We know the smaller the number on Shutter Speed the more light and more chance of blur! Remember when you move to the LEFT of the scale, you get MORE light.
We know the smaller the number on Aperture the MORE light and more chance of Shallow Depth of Field!
So f/4 is a LARGE aperture compared to f/16, a SMALL aperture!
EXPOSURE METER
We also know...
To get an exceptable exposure, we are trying to get the center line of the metering scale to the '0' mark!
Remember! This is about intentionally using what we know to create a bad photo! Try taking it correctly and THEN make it bad!

GOOD AND BAD
For this assignment, you will need to take 'Good" AND "Bad" Photos. The goal is to capture the essential elements of the image and draw the viewer's attention to those specific details. You are showing you know the difference between a correct (or "good") photo and an incorrect (or "bad") photo!
Change your camera setting to create a "Good" photo...take the photo (Take more than one just in case!)
Then mess up the settings (like ISO or Shutter speed etc) to create a "Bad Photo"...take the photo!
For example, use compensation wheel to over + expose, use a very high ISO outdoors.
Hint, you can use the F-STOP (Aperture) to over expose the image by increasing the aperture size (Small f-stop Number).
Or you can increase the ISO to OVER EXPOSE!
BEWARE: Decreasing the shutter speed to make the image too light could make the photo blur (we DON'T want this!!).

For example, use compensation wheel to UNDER - expose
Hint, you can use the F-STOP (Aperture) to under expose the image by decreasing the aperture size (Large f-stop Number).
Or you can increase the shutter speed to make the image too dark.

That bracket...make sure it is NOT on your subject so you subject is OUT OF FOCUS. Perhaps the wrong thing is in focus?
Simply focus on anything BUT your subject by pressing on the LCD screen.
Remember! This is not motion blur. Something should be in focus (just not the subject!)

Use a very low shutter speed that is too slow to capture movement. Have some one move their head back and forth when you are taking their picture. (this is like causing a motion blur!)...This is more than likely a subject that does NOT move!
Remember! This is not motion blur. The Subject should NOT be a moving subject!

Example: Make a portrait of somebody and make sure the (example) TREE BRANCH is coming out from behind their head...or the flagpole, or something else that takes away from your subject.
For "good" composition remember what we have learned! (Move your self or the subject to change the composition to "good")
